Wally Burger

We have been living in Phoenix now for five years and had driven by Wally Burger a lot before we tried it.  It is located in a strip mall close to a Target store very close to where we live.  The strip mall has an appliance store, cake decorating store, Great Clips hair cutting store, a Payless Shoes that went out of business, a smoke shop and Wally Burger.

Wally Burger has been voted best hamburger in the Phoenix area for several years and they really are very good.

The theme inside the small restaurant is super heroes and there is a lot of Avenger memorabilia all around the store.  It is simple in the tables there for sit down eating, but lots of room for small groups like church groups to gather.

We ate there with son/family a few months back.  Grandson (wee one) likes the Avengers and has all the action figures.  Sonic is his hero but Avengers come in as a close second.

After he ate and we adults were chatting, I gave him my cell phone set on pictures and told him to take pictures around the store.  He took close to 30 pictures (don't worry I'm not sharing all of them) but here are some that he took.  At the time he was about 4-1/2 years old.  I think he did pretty well taking them.

Spiderman with Captain America's shield in the background.

The Incredible Hulk.

Groot and Rocket Racoon.

Not sure - if anyone knows, let me know in the comments.

The burgers are served on Hawaiian rolls.  You can get a Keto bun or no bun option.  They are high in calories, but we treat ourselves to Wally Burger about once every 2-3 months.

This is what I usually get.  The Beef Burger Combo.  One patty with choice of toppings and cheese at no extra cost with French fries and a 20 ounce drink.

Yummy!!

One time after getting our hair cut at Great Clips we walked down to Wally Burger a few storefronts away.  When we saw this sign, we knew we had to eat there soon and that's what began our love of their hamburgers and their place.  I'm not 100% sure but I think the owner of the shop who is there a lot cooking is the preacher at this church.  We'll check the church out some day.

Since I follow them on Facebook, I saw over the last several months two incidents when they were open on Sunday afternoons from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a limited menu to raise money for local charities.  I guess volunteers man it during this time and all proceeds go to the charity chosen.  Last Sunday was such an event.  We had just eaten there Saturday, so didn't participate in this fundraiser but hopefully the next one.  The previous one raised $1000 for the Phoenix Rescue Mission, something near and dear to my heart.

If you are ever in Phoenix and want to try a Wally Burger, let me know.  And if you aren't into burgers, they have a very extensive menu including pizzas, salads, sandwiches, deep fried desserts and so much more.  Would love for you to be our guests :)

  1. 'Wally Burger' sounds like a decent place with good food.
Your little grandson definitely has it - photographic skill. The shots he took with with your cellphone are quite good!

  2. He took great photos, for sure! Wow on that sign. It’s great that a small business owner can do this. I’m always happy when I see any business give their employees time off for holidays, etc.

  3. Love that sign on the front door. Even if the food wasn't that great, I'd still want to support him/her. 2nd favorite: That they offer keto-friendly options! I wish more establishments would do that.

PS - Please tell the Wee One he did GOOD!

  6. I've heard of Wally Burger but never been there. I love that they sometimes open the store on Sundays to raise money for charities. We'll definitely have to try it out sometime!

We used to attend a Harvest Christian Fellowship! But ours was in Lakeside, CA.

  7. I have never heard of Wally Burger. It looks similar to Krystal Burger or White Castle burger with 4 small burgers. I've had Krystal Burgers in New Orleans but we don't have one locally. The superhero theming is so fun so I can see why it would be a big hit with kids. If I'm ever in Phoenix I will take you up on getting a Wally Burger. :) Happy Mother's Day, Betty!

  8. Awwww I will take you up on that if I ever find myself in Phoenix, Betty! Not likely but wow I do love a good burger and fries. And your wee one shows great promise in the area of photo composition! Good on you for encouraging his creativity. Happy Mother's Day! xoxo

  9. Yum! I have never had one. Will have to check them out when we are in Arizona. The Hawaiian bun sounds awesome. We recently tried the Habit Burger and enjoyed it. Your grandson took some wonderful pictures.

  11. Is Wally's a local business or is it a franchise? If it is a franchise, we don't have one in Alabama. The burger on those Hawaiian rolls looks really yummy and I love French fries!
